… Shey that's the kind of life you want?. That kind of life is tiring nah. Very tiring.
I think that was why that story stayed with me. That older brother could have become cold. He could have withdrawn emotionally. He could have started acting deep and unavailable. Nobody would even blame him completely. Human ego likes recognition. But instead, he chose honour.
And there is something powerful about people who can honour others without feeling smaller. They have real humility. They're not the type that says “I am nobody” but becomes angry when treated like nobody. Real humility is peaceful.
It understands that purpose is not a competition ground. And maybe that is one thing many of us need to check quietly. Because sometimes the issue is not pride. Sometimes it is hidden grief that another person became what we hoped to become first.
And if care is not taken, envy will slowly poison good hearts while they still appear spiritually healthy outside. That thing is dangerous.
A person can kneel in prayer and still secretly resent the people they are saying “Amen” for.
