I’m a full stack dev based in Cape Town, and I’ll add something I haven’t seen in the replies yet: the local currency vs. remote currency angle is a huge factor in 2026. Companies hiring locally in Africa still pay in local currencies, and the gap is widening. I’ve talked to devs in Nigeria and Kenya who are turning down local offers because the pay doesn’t stretch as far as even a mid-tier remote gig in dollars or euros.
