Transfixed in a tranquil sky that shed
winter pearls, the sun is pale
and drowsy like an exhausted warrior
her soft ray lick through folds of frost
faint in the abeyant trees of my garden
while I meditate on her patient in awe
as migranting birds perch on grey-hair roof
of my hut, sing songs of exodus
with clinched snow-clad peak, file off
chilling touch of white-toothed zephyr
pearled leaves of expecting meadows,
slide window pane, intrude on my lull
with quiescent fingers of cold she crawl
into my room, wrap me in rimy sheet,
a mummified winter corpse
'I need a sip of coffee, an ember,
a blanket sheet, a flawless pullover
to survive till her menace is over
till the nursery touch of spring bring
solace, I will wait, wait for her nascence
till the menace of winter is over!
