Potiskum LGA has made a strong and strategic impact at the ongoing 47th Kaduna International Trade Fair, as Yobe State prepares for its designated Yobe Day, when all 17 LGAs of the state will present their cultural identity, economic opportunities, and development achievements.
The impressive participation of Potiskum LGA reflects the agricultural revitalization agenda of Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni (CON), whose administration continues to promote mechanized agriculture, local production, and value addition as key pillars of economic diversification and food security in the state.
At the Potiskum LGA exhibition stand, a wide range of locally fabricated agricultural machines are on display, including groundnut oil threshing machines, Bambara nut threshing machines, and locally manufactured water pump machines for irrigation farming in Potiskum.
These innovations demonstrate the local government’s growing capacity in agro-mechanization and its commitment to supporting both rainy and dry-season farming.
The exhibition is being showcased under the leadership of the Executive Chairman of Potiskum LGA, Hon. Salisu Muktari, whose administration has continued to place agriculture at the center of grassroots economic development.
The Agricultural Department of the Potiskum Local Government Area, which is under the supervision of Hon. Audu Dallari Mohammed has been instrumental in coordinating the agricultural exhibits and ensuring their quality presentation.
Technical oversight and the effective organization of the agricultural and mineral displays are being provided by the Head of Agricultural and Mineral Resources of Potiskum LGA, Mohammed Abubakar Jajere, whose expertise has contributed significantly to the success of the exhibition.
Among the items displayed, popularly known as Rake Ox Floud, are various agricultural produce and mineral resources, including groundnut (red varieties such as Dakar and Kwankwasiyya), Bambara nut, cowpea (white and brown varieties), honey beans, soya beans, sorghum (red and yellow varieties), pearl millet, millet (gero), sesame seed (white and brown), wheat (alkama), cassava powder, dried cassava, Gypsy, iron ore, and kaolin.
As Yobe Day approaches, the Potiskum LGA pavilion continues to draw attention from visitors, investors, and stakeholders, reinforcing Potiskum’s position as a leading agricultural and commercial center in Yobe State and a clear beneficiary of the development-driven policies of Gov. Buni’s administration.
