I've flown into Shakawe a few times now, and the thing that always catches me off guard is how the landing itself sets the tone. The runway is short and unpaved, so when the wheels touch down, you feel every bump and dust cloud. It's not scary, but it reminds you that you're entering a place where the roads don't go much further. The terminal is basically a small building with a covered porch and a few chairs.
