YOU ARE NOBODY

YOU ARE NOBODY
You are nobody
because your pain has no protocol,
no budget line,
no press briefing.
You die in queues
fuel queues, hospital queues,
justice queues that never move,
while power cuts the line and smiles.
You are nobody
because your hunger is called “patience,”
your suffering renamed “resilience,”
your silence mistaken for peace.
They don’t govern you
they manage your endurance,
test how long a people can bend
without breaking the floor.
Your vote is a ritual,
your hope a seasonal decoration,
brought out during campaigns
and locked away after victory.
You scream into potholes,
pray into empty clinics,
learn under leaking roofs
and they tell you to be grateful.
Your child memorizes failure early,
your mother negotiates life with pain,
your father grows old waiting
for a country that never arrives.
They speak of “the masses”
as statistics, not stomachs,
as numbers, not names,
as tools, not humans.
You are nobody
because when you cry,
the nation adjusts its volume,
not its conscience.
Yet remember
history is written by those
once called nobody.
Graves are patient.
Silence keeps records.
And a day comes
when nobody refuses to kneel
and the ground itself listens.
