The Algorithm Of Heaven's Media — Chapter Eleven

… He had been dry all week. His morning syncs had become mechanical, the kind of thing you do because you have always done it and stopping would feel worse than continuing. His evening prayers were races against his own eyelids. The exams were coming, his pocket was thinning in the way pockets thin at the end of the month, students call it Ìgbèyìn Adeyemi, and somewhere between all of that, he had started watching the viewer count climb and feeling something he didn't want to name.

It was good writing. He knew it was good writing. And it was, completely, a fraud.
That night he sat at his desk while the fluorescent bulb above him flickered and threw uncertain shadows across the wall. He picked up the Spirit-Interface with a palm that was slightly wet. Fallen, the way a man falls when the ground disappears under him suddenly, a straight drop with no warning and no soft landing at the bottom. Christian stared at it for a long time. There was nothing to interpret. The line said everything it needed to say.
He tapped the screen with a finger that wouldn't stay still.
The Analytics Report loaded slowly, well, bad news always takes its time before it arrives. When it finally appeared, Christian read it twice, because the first time didn't seem real.
To be continued … 🔥
