POEM: IT PAID OFF
Yes,it did pay off,
those times I was deeply attached to hardwork,
those times I couldn’t go a day without lamenting.
I was at peace now.
I was living my dream life—
what more was there to ask for?
I wanted to stand on a mountaintop
and scream how grateful I am.
But did I lose sometimes?
Yes, I did—a lot of things.
I lost friends, I lost jobs,
I lost relationships,
but I’m grateful I didn’t lose myself in the process.
As I scaled through life and achieved once again,
my eyes blurred with tears,
and I finally realized
that I truly deserved this.
Yes, I did.
