Hon. Salisu Muktari has congratulated the Executive Governor of Yobe State, His Excellency Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, on his recognition as Best Agricultural Empowerment Governor of the Year 2025/2026 by the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), describing the award as a national validation of purposeful, people-focused leadership.
In a congratulatory message, Hon. Muktari said the award, presented during the AFAN General Assembly of Farmers 2026 held in Abuja from 15th to 17th January, represents far more than ceremonial recognition. According to him, it is a clear endorsement of Governor Buni’s strategic decision to place agriculture at the center of Yobe State’s economic recovery, food security, and social stability agenda.
He noted that the honour reflects the collective assessment of Nigeria’s farming community on the Governor’s Mega Agricultural Empowerment Programmes of 2024 and 2025, which he described as among the most far-reaching and impactful agricultural interventions in the North East region in recent history.
Hon. Muktari explained that the distribution of over 71,835 agricultural empowerment items—including tractors, irrigation facilities, modern farming equipment, improved seeds, fertilizers, livestock, and mobility support—across all 178 electoral wards of Yobe State underscores an inclusive governance philosophy anchored on equity, reach, and measurable outcomes.
“The AFAN award affirms Governor Mai Mala Buni’s commitment to translating policies into tangible benefits for farmers and rural communities. At a time when food security remains a pressing national concern, Yobe State has emerged as a practical model of what focused and purposeful leadership can deliver,” he stated.
He further referenced reports by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) and Statisense, which indicate that Yobe State currently records one of the lowest food inflation rates in the country, attributing the development to sustained agricultural investment and coherent policy implementation by the Buni administration.
Hon. Muktari also commended AFAN for recognizing leadership that delivers real impact, noting that such national acknowledgment strengthens confidence among farmers and stakeholders across the agricultural value chain.
He concluded by praying for continued wisdom and strength for Governor Buni to consolidate the gains recorded in the agricultural sector, while urging leaders at all levels to draw lessons from Yobe State’s agriculture-driven development model.
