The Yobe State Government under the leadership of H.E. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni FCIA CON COMN has played a commendable role in curbing the cost of education, thereby making it affordable and accessible to the poor in the state__ Medicine (MBBS) students are paying less than N55,000 at the state university.
The governor has played a key role in curbing the cost of education despite the economic downturn that has forced all Nigerian universities to double their tuition fees, especially in the medical field, to meet the needs of the indigenes of Yobe State.
Governor Buni clarified and assured the people of Yobe State that his words indicated that education is an investment for every full-fledged citizen of Yobe State, as he assured that the rich and the poor should have equal opportunities to seek education across the state: “Education and health are investments that every poor person should benefit from as investments that our state government will invest for the benefit of our people as a whole.
There is no department in the University of Yobe that has a rigid and expensive registration environment; moreover, this is a result of the financial support that the state government under the leadership of the esteemed governor provides to take care of the cost of education for the poor people of the state.
Yobe State is currently at the forefront of providing quality education and affordable health care across Nigeria. Despite the affordable education provided by the governor, he has also provided thousands of development and modern projects in the state-owned university, which the state government is directly responsible for.
“We will never consider education as a source of income because that will distract the minds of the good people of the state and our students from seeking education to acts of terrorism, which are a threat to us all in the future.
"It will be effective if we make education affordable and give our children the opportunity to do it easily and cheaply; then we will live in peace and security in our state." Said Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN.
No other state has students studying MBBS at its university for a fee of only fifty-five thousand (55,000) except Yobe State.
