*After April showers come May flowers.*
The April showers—
unexpected, unwanted, undesired—
mirrors of compulsory labour,
born of a passion for academic success,
guided by seasoned yet stern schoolmasters.
The April showers—
downpours of pep talks and admonitions,
sustained by ordered rules and regulations,
shaped by the practice of right conduct,
enforced by firm correction for the disobedient.
The April showers—
showers of pain and fear,
fear of falling short of expectation,
a season soaked in sweat and tears,
tears drawn from enduring discipline.
But then came the May flowers—
how swiftly, how brightly they appeared!
Our dreams became reality,
standing radiant before our eyes.
The May flowers—
a chronicle of our struggles,
the story of our formative years;
the joy that replaced our tears,
echoing with laughter, jokes, and giggles.
The May flowers—
a fraternity revealing our communion,
our love, our triumphs;
the warmth of childhood reborn,
the inheritance we shared,
the legacy we learned.
Now we smile together,
our private pains and regrets
swallowed by fellowship;
trusted companions, trusted classmates,
differences hidden beneath a common heritage.
O May flowers—
a bouquet of bright, blossoming lives,
glowing beneath the sun,
drawing every wandering butterfly,
a living proof that
after storm and wind,
true light always comes.
