The Jam of Intimacy

I touched the finest core,
A thought left to be taught,
A yearning to be caught —
One the rich bought,
But the poor sought
So much more than it ought.
Calling for me at watch,
Twice the torch to touch,
A duet for who knows
The dough of passion,
When the jam of intimacy
Is just right.
Both a rite to find
In boat and oath to quote,
As yesterday fell
In this day's arms,
And tomorrow tilted
Out of the grace to know
This turf tilling truth:
Sparkles of sky, soil, and sea
Do this the same as we souls.
