The North East Development Commission (NEDC) is set to officially hand over strategic road and bridge projects in Potiskum LGA of Yobe State on Wednesday, January 22, 2026, aimed at strengthening connectivity between Kara, Jigawa, and Mazaga communities, while linking Bare-Bari Bauya Lailai Ward with Bolewa ‘A’ Ward.
The projects, located within Potiskum, were facilitated through the proactive and result-driven leadership of the Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, as part of sustained efforts to improve transportation, enhance safety, and accelerate socio-economic development at the grassroots.
Hon. Salisu Muktari will be represented by Potiskum LGA Vice Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Adamu Hamza Ngojin, members of the Legislative Council, traditional rulers, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders in local administration.
Upon full utilization, the road and bridge infrastructure is expected to ease movement, significantly reduce travel time, improve access to markets and essential services, and deepen economic interaction among communities within Potiskum and its environs.
The NEDC has remained a pivotal intervention agency in the Northeast, delivering impactful infrastructure that supports recovery, stability, and sustainable growth across the region.
The Potiskum projects further reflect the Commission’s commitment to rebuilding critical infrastructure and improving livelihoods in Northeast Nigeria.
The projects will unlock new economic opportunities, enhance daily mobility, and contribute meaningfully to long-term development in the Potiskum Local Government Area.
