In a strong commendation of grassroots development, Hon. Salisu Muktari has praised the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, for delivering tangible and life-improving projects in Garbawa, Yarimaram Ward, proposing that a transformed section of the community be named after the governor.
Hon. Salisu Muktari made the call during the official handover of the proposed General Hospital site in Potiskum to the Yobe State Commissioner for Health, describing the development as a key milestone in the state’s efforts to expand access to quality healthcare services.
He noted that although construction work has not yet commenced, the formal handover of the site clearly demonstrates the administration’s readiness and commitment to delivering the much-needed health facility.
Highlighting the transformation within the specific section of Garbawa where the hospital is to be located, Hon. Salisu Muktari recalled that the area was previously underserved, lacking essential infrastructure such as electricity, good road networks, and a functional primary healthcare facility.
“Today, that same area has witnessed a remarkable turnaround,” he stated. “There is now electricity, improved roads, and access to healthcare services; these are practical results of leadership that truly responds to the needs of the people.”
He emphasized that his proposal is not to rename the entire Garbawa community but to designate the developed section as “Mai Mala Buni Area” in recognition of the governor’s direct developmental footprint in that locality.
According to Hon. Salisu Muktari, such recognition would serve as a lasting symbol of appreciation and a reflection of the positive impact of purposeful governance at the grassroots level.
He further urged residents to continue supporting the administration, noting that the steady progress across Yobe State is a clear indication of a government committed to inclusive development and improved living standards.
The handover of the hospital site marks another significant step in Yobe’s healthcare expansion drive, while also reinforcing calls to recognize areas that have benefited from Gov. Buni’s transformative leadership.
