Here's why your post looks like you're rambling

Your hook says, 'Acne is a mood killer; here's why.' Then you ramble about causes, effects on personality, and ruined photos—but never get to the solution. Three paragraphs in, your reader is gone.

As a scriptwriter, I know structure isn't just decoration—it's what makes your message land. So, here's the framework I use for every post:

The 4-step structure approach:

Step 1: Define the problem ✍️
What is the purpose of your post? Are you trying to raise awareness about a certain topic? Sell a product?

After finding the purpose of the post, then look for a problem that your solution solves.

Why are people going to read and save this post? Answer that, and that's where you get your hook

For example:
Hook: Here's why you have breakouts.
Explain what breakouts are...
Why it occurs...

Step 2: Identify the cost 💸
This is where you tell your audience the consequence of not taking any immediate action to solve their current problem.

What happens if they don't take action or let the problem stay?

What would it cost them? Money? Time? Resources?

For example:
Acne is not a beauty standard, but having them all scattered across your face can cause some major damage to your confidence, ruin perfect photos, and make your skin look less good.

Step 3: Offer your solution 🤝
So, you've done the work, and now is your time to let them know how you can help them solve that problem.

If it's a step-by-step approach that leads to them wanting your 30-day free plan to maintain the result they gained from your post or you have a product that solves it for them immediately, this is your chance to introduce it.

For example, [I'll give two examples]:
1. This is why I created a 30-day skincare plan that walks you through the right steps you need to take to take good care of your skin and gets rid of acne in the first 7 days of following the steps.
2. So, I'm introducing 'Skinfair,' my organic skincare product that gets rid of acne or any other skin problems in the first 14 days of application.

Step 4: Give them an action 🦾
Now that you've told them how you can solve their problems. What are they doing next?

Are they commenting a keyword to get your 30-day free plan?

Are they commenting on their journey?

Are they clicking a link to buy your product? What is it going to be?

For example, [I'll give two examples]:
1. Comment SKINCARE to get my 30-day FREE skincare plan and set the journey to healthy and more beautiful skin.
2. I am running a discount price on all Skinfair products bought in the next 48 hours. Click the link below to get yours and enjoy smooth and fresh skin.

Even if you have a clear message, you need to learn how to structure your points so they land and meet your audience at the point of their need.

If you found this helpful, save it; someone in your network might need it.

ugh the amount of times I've scrolled past a post exactly like that acne example is embarrassing. it's like they're trying to sell me something but won't just spit it out. your breakdown makes so much sense tho especially the part about naming the cost first because that's what actually makes me stop scrolling. question though - do you find this works better for sales posts vs like awareness posts? sometimes i feel like step 2 (the cost) can come off as fear-mongering if you're not careful.

I think it works on both, but your wordings will definitely differ. You need to decide if it is for sales or for awareness first, then understand who your post is appealing to, then you know how you approach the content using the framework above. I have a few of these I post on LinkedIn on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you want to see more of this, I can channel them here too.
