In a move that further reinforces his reputation for compassionate, people-focused leadership, the Yobe State Government has approved a temporary adjustment of official working hours for public servants during the holy month of Ramadan, under the leadership of H.E. Gov. Mai Mala Buni, CON, COMN.
The decision, widely regarded as both timely and considerate, was formally conveyed through a circular issued and signed by the Head of Service, Abdullahi Musa Shehu, and distributed to all ministries, departments, and agencies across the state.
According to the circular, official working hours during the Ramadan fasting period will be observed as follows:
Mondays to Thursdays: 8:00am – 3:00pm
Fridays: 8:00am – 12:00pm
The directive clearly states that the adjustment applies strictly to the month of Ramadan, with normal working hours resuming immediately after the fasting period.
Beyond its administrative significance, the policy is being hailed as a strong signal of Gov. Buni’s empathetic governance style—one that harmonizes productivity with compassion and respects the spiritual obligations of workers. By proactively easing the workload during Ramadan, the governor continues to place premium value on staff welfare, morale, and efficiency within the public service.
This decision aligns with Gov. Buni’s broader governance philosophy, which emphasizes inclusiveness, religious harmony, and human-centered policies as essential drivers of sustainable development. The gesture is also seen as a morale booster that strengthens trust between the government and its workforce.
The Yobe State Government has encouraged public servants to reciprocate the gesture by upholding professionalism, punctuality, and dedication to duty throughout the holy month, in keeping with the administration’s commitment to accountable and responsive governance.
The announcement was made public by Alhassan Sule Mamudo, Deputy Director of Information, Office of the Head of Service, as Yobe State prepares for a spiritually enriching Ramadan marked by stability, compassion, and purposeful leadership.
