As Yobe State continues its journey of transformation under Governor Mai Mala Buni, CON, the administration is set to establish the Yobe State Road Fund (YSRF)—a forward-thinking initiative designed to ensure sustainable financing, maintenance, and management of the state’s road network.
The proposed YSRF will serve as a dedicated funding mechanism for the continuous rehabilitation and upkeep of roads across Yobe, guaranteeing that investments in infrastructure remain functional, safe, and impactful for generations to come.
Governor Buni’s vision for YSRF goes beyond building roads—it focuses on institutionalizing maintenance culture and strengthening the financial backbone of Yobe’s transport system.
The agency will mobilize resources from diverse streams, including state allocations, private partnerships, and development programs, to keep Yobe’s roads in optimal condition.
This initiative complements the soon-to-be-established Yobe Rural Access Roads Authority (YORARA), together creating a robust framework for rural connectivity and statewide infrastructure sustainability.
Through the YSRF, Governor Buni aims to protect the state’s road assets, enhance economic activities, and improve the daily lives of citizens by ensuring safer, more reliable transportation networks.
Over the past six years, the governor has initiated or approved the creation of more than 18 ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs)—all geared toward improving governance, efficiency, and service delivery.
With YSRF, Governor Buni reinforces his enduring commitment to building not just infrastructure but systems that endure—ensuring Yobe’s roads remain pathways of growth, opportunity, and progress for years to come.
