that after I won the last sperm race,
I am now running to be a breadwinner. 🥱
Who is a breadwinner?
Dear ancestors,
after you sent forth my parents
on the pursuit of antelopes and rabbits,
it has now ended with us chasing bread.
Others have the dough.
Some already own the bakery.
Some have the wheat farm.
While I stand here
with only my hands and feet,
on the hill,
watching smoke rise from my neighbor’s roof.
The smell of baked bread
fills my empty stomach
with imagination
guessing how sweet it must taste.
I know you do not know
that people now run for bread.
I wish you did.
Perhaps you would spare
a few wheat seeds
for my future.
It makes me wonder,
do you care about my tomorrow,
or do you want me
to keep running after antelopes
like you did?
