Am I Not A Human?

I Am A Human Too!

My neck was a home to cruel chain
‎My posterior, a home to countless pain,

‎It all started from the brink of the Lagoon
‎My mother was tied, my sister was striped naked
‎just like a baboon,
‎My father, like every other man, was flogged to stupor
‎The thirsty land fed on his blood like liquor.

‎Yes, I was there, there I was,
‎I heard a domineering voice, piercing through from
‎the waves of the Atlantic ocean,
‎"Cram them in that boat, and chain them all"

‎As if all was not enough,
‎the book of my language was torn, rightly in front of me,
‎And the chapters of my identity was buried in hatred and disdain,

‎Our water and soil were all poured in their greedy sack
‎My mother to filter the water, our fathers to till the soil,
‎His posterior was adorned with wound, and her neck was dislocated with cargo.

‎So, I stood for a while like a lifeless statue,
‎Staring on my skin, touching my chest if I truly breathe
‎like that White man that whipped me of my land and pride,

‎All,I could see, was a striking resemblance of every feature!
‎So, I am a human too?
‎So, we both had blood that flourished through our vein?
‎And we both had heart that pound on the left side of our chest?

‎So, I am a human Too!

Man, you're laying down some tough stuff here. Acknowledging your struggle, but I gotta say, not everyone has been fighting for their rights like you have. Respect to you.

While the poem paints a tragic picture of suffering and oppression, it also leaves an inspiring message about the shared humanity we all possess. Respect for those who went through such pain is powerful.

The metaphors here paint a grim picture of mistreatment and degradation. It's understandable to feel solidarity with someone facing such suffering.

I can see how those memories must be so heavy. A lot of people have been through similar struggles.

Human too. The lack of empathy towards your people is truly disturbing. Their suffering is real, and it breaks my heart a little bit. I'm not sure if I can handle the intensity here.

That's such a harsh reality, isn't it? It's scary how some people see us as just animals. But hey, we've faced worse too, haven't we? Still here, still fighting for our rights. Kudos to you for standing your ground.

I can't even process all of this right now. It's so raw and honest, and honestly, I don’t know what to say. I’m white, and honestly, that part of my identity is broken because of historical trauma. I just want people to acknowledge it’s not us, but I guess that’s not the point here. Anyway, I’m sorry for you. ✩

I'm sorry to hear about your experiences. That kind of suffering must be so heavy, but it’s also a reminder of how far we still have to walk. Sending you strength and hope.

I can feel your struggle, brother. The lagoon whispers of pain, and those white men are just part of the ongoing tale. You're not alone in this fight for truth and equality.
