The week under review showcased a period of intense governance activity and people-centered leadership by the Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, as his administration recorded significant strides across security, healthcare development, youth engagement, correctional welfare, and public utilities.
Strengthening Security and Peace Architecture:
Hon. Salisu Muktari hosted the Yobe State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Ado, on a courtesy and familiarization visit aimed at deepening collaboration between the local government and security agencies.
Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to safeguarding lives and property, with the chairman pledging unwavering support to security agencies operating in Potiskum. The visit reinforced Potiskum’s reputation as a hub of peace and stability, vital for economic growth and social harmony.
Boosting Healthcare Infrastructure:
In a major push to expand healthcare access, Hon. Salisu Muktari led a high-powered delegation from the Yobe State Ministry of Health, headed by the Honourable Commissioner, Dr. Gana Lawan Muhammad, to inspect the proposed site for a new General Hospital in Garbawa Yarimaram Ward.
The 27-hectare site was assessed for suitability, accessibility, and compliance with required standards, with the delegation expressing satisfaction. Community leaders and residents welcomed the initiative, describing it as a long-awaited development that will significantly improve healthcare delivery in Potiskum and surrounding communities.
Humanitarian Intervention at Custodial Center:
The Yobe State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) formally commended Hon. Salisu Muktari for his swift intervention in restoring the water supply at the Potiskum Custodial Centre.
The timely repair of a damaged borehole improved sanitation, eased operational challenges, and enhanced the welfare of inmates and staff, earning praise for the chairman’s compassionate and responsive leadership.
Youth Engagement and Political Mobilization:
The week also witnessed a courtesy visit by the Matasan Yobe Dan Gyaran Gobe Association, which conferred on Hon. Salisu Muktari the title of Grand Patron in recognition of his leadership and support for youth development.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to youth sensitization, discipline, and self-reliance, while also pledging continued support for the policies of Gov. Mai Mala Buni. Hon. Muktari, in response, pledged sustained cooperation to advance youth empowerment and moral reorientation across Yobe State.

Demonstrating proactive governance, Hon. Salisu Muktari paid an official visit to the Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) office in Potiskum to demand improved electricity supply.
He highlighted the negative impact of irregular power on businesses, healthcare, education, and overall socio-economic development, securing assurances from YEDC management on steps to address technical challenges and improve service delivery.
From security consolidation and healthcare expansion to youth empowerment, humanitarian service, and infrastructure advocacy, the week reflected decisive, inclusive, and people-oriented leadership under Hon. Salisu Muktari.
