In clarifying the recently announced 3-meter roadside adjustment directive, Hon. Salisu Muktari emphasized that the policy is a progressive urban management initiative, not a demolition or eviction exercise, and explained that the directive is aimed at restoring proper road setbacks, improving traffic flow, and safeguarding lives along Potiskum’s major commercial routes, which have increasingly come under pressure from unchecked roadside encroachment.
According to the council, traders affected by the policy are only required to reposition temporary structures backward by three meters, a modest adjustment designed to create wider, safer roads while allowing businesses to continue operating smoothly.
