The thing about growing up is that nobody really sits you down to explain how it will feel. The people ahead of you just smile in that knowing way and call it growing up, as if that one phrase is enough to carry all the weight.
Because some days, it does not feel like progress. It feels like losing things you did not even know you were holding so tightly. You lose the ease you once had, the way you could sleep anywhere without thinking, the closeness of friendships that slowly stretch into distance and silence. Even your body begins to respond differently, like it is quietly reminding you that things have changed.
At first, it feels unfair. Like something has been taken from you without permission.
But then, in the middle of all that losing, something else begins to happen. You start to notice small things. The way you handle situations that would have broken you before. The way you understand yourself a little more. It does not come all at once. It comes in bits, in quiet moments, in decisions you make without overthinking the way you used to.
And you begin to see that growing up was never really about arriving anywhere. It is this slow, sometimes uncomfortable, but deeply beautiful process of becoming someone you are still getting to know.
See you next Friday… Bye 👋
