The Yobe State Governor, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, FCIA, CON, COMN, has confirmed generosity by paying teachers and local government workers minimum wage and N10,000 additional salary to pensioners.
The governor approved the payment of the minimum wage to local government workers in Yobe State and an additional N10,000 to pensioners on June 2nd, and ensured that the scheme is to be adopted by June.
Yesterday, Friday, June 27, 2025, local government workers, school teachers, and pensioners in Yobe State walked out with a huge salary increase as a result of the minimum wage increase signed by the Yobe State government.
The workers expressed their happiness and confidence that this increase will definitely improve their lives, improve their well-being, and empower them by providing them with the resources that will improve their lives.
"We have certainly found ourselves in an unprecedented state of joy as we have been facing the problem of low incomes in the past months, which has caused fear in the hearts of all the local government workers in Yobe State.
"Our lives will benefit from this increase, which is certain; the Honorable Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN, feels for us at this time when we are in a tight situation with limited funds to run our lives." Said Umar Iliyasu, a primary school teacher.
The Governor has certainly shown his mettle in fulfilling all his promises.
