In a well-calculated move to recognize and empower digital contributors, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has approved a ₦50,000 cash support package for social media actors across the state as Ramadan winds down and preparations peak for Eid al-Fitr.
The initiative is being coordinated by the Office of the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Abdullahi Bego , alongside the Office of the Focal Person on Digital and Strategic Communications, Yusuf Ali , reflecting a deliberate effort to engage the state’s growing digital community.
Under the arrangement, beneficiaries—identified as individuals actively promoting government policies, programs, and achievements across social media platforms—will receive ₦50,000 each as a Sallah package. The gesture comes at a time when many households are making financial preparations for the festive season, offering timely support and easing economic pressure.
Beyond its immediate financial impact, the initiative highlights the increasing relevance of social media actors in modern governance. Their role in shaping narratives, amplifying development efforts, and promoting a positive image of Yobe State has become a key component of public communication.
Government officials describe the support as both an appreciation of past contributions and a motivation for continued responsible engagement. Beneficiaries are encouraged to sustain efforts that promote unity, peace, and constructive dialogue online.
The move also reflects Gov. Buni’s inclusive governance approach, which acknowledges contributions from diverse sectors, including the digital space. It underscores a leadership style that values partnership, rewards commitment, and embraces innovation in communication.
As the Eid celebrations approach, the initiative has been widely welcomed as timely and impactful, further strengthening the relationship between the government and the digital community while reinforcing a shared commitment to the progress and positive image of Yobe State.
