The executive governor of Yobe State, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, FCIA, CON, COMN, has launched the distribution of 10kg bags of rice from the Aliko Dangote Foundation, calling on the people of Yobe State to improve their farming in the 2025 farming season.
The governor made this call and claim today, Thursday, 17th April, 2025, while launching the distribution of 30,000 10kg bags of rice donated by the Dangote Foundation to the state to help the poor and vulnerable across Yobe State.
The governor has issued a call to farmers in the state, saying that as we prepare for this year’s harvest, he is appealing to farmers in the state to be diligent in farming to ensure food security.
“As we prepare for this year’s harvest, I appeal to you to be diligent in farming to ensure food security and help the government in combating food insecurity across Yobe State.
"This administration will continue to support agricultural activities by providing more modern agricultural machinery and equipment, as well as providing quality seeds and pesticides to improve agricultural production and make it profitable for our farmers.” Governor Buni said.
The governor also explained that international businessmen from Qatar and Morocco have shown interest in growing sesame, gum arabic, livestock, and other agricultural products grown in Yobe State.
“We will use this opportunity to support farmers in the state and other interested parties in farming to facilitate the government’s economic recovery plan for the benefit of our people.
"Therefore, I urge our youth to explore the possibilities of agriculture. The government is ready to give you special recognition and will support you with the tools to succeed and become economically self-reliant." Governor Buni added
The governor also commended the Dangote Foundation for supporting the vulnerable in the state to meet their food needs.
The governor also called on and directed the local government distribution committees to give priority to the weak, the vulnerable, the disabled, and those affected by the fire disaster in the distribution of rice.
