The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its confidence in the political sagacity, organisational expertise, and consensus-building capacity of Yobe State Governor, H.E. Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, with his appointment as Secretary of the Central Coordination Committee for the party’s 2026 National Convention.
The 73-member high-level committee, inaugurated by the APC National Working Committee (NWC), is tasked with coordinating preparations for the national convention—an event expected to define the party’s leadership direction, internal reforms, and strategic positioning ahead of future electoral engagements.
The committee is chaired by Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma, with Kwara State Governor and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, serving as Vice Chairman. Gov. Buni’s role as Secretary places him at the heart of the convention’s administrative coordination and strategic execution.
Gov. Buni’s appointment further strengthens his reputation as one of the APC’s most trusted managers of party affairs. He currently serves as Chairman of the APC Strategy, Conflict Resolution and Mobilisation Committee, a critical platform that has played a stabilising role in addressing internal disagreements and fostering unity across the party’s national structure.
He also leads the Committee on the Review of the APC Constitution and the Expansion of the National Executive Committee (NEC) a sensitive and forward-looking assignment designed to deepen internal democracy, strengthen institutional frameworks, and align the party with evolving political realities.
Recognised across political circles as a disciplined administrator and experienced party organiser, Gov. Buni brings to the assignment a proven record in reconciliation, reform coordination, and institutional leadership, having previously overseen several national-level committees within the APC.
The constitution of the Central Coordination Committee marks the official commencement of activities towards the 2026 APC National Convention, a decisive political event expected to shape the ruling party’s leadership configuration and policy orientation in the years ahead.
Gov. Buni’s central role in this process highlights his continued relevance, influence, and trusted position within the highest decision-making organs of the APC, reinforcing his status as a key pillar in the party’s drive for stability, reform, and strategic coherence.
