A Borrowed Dream

In the hush of night’s quiet pursuit,
a tender melody lingers in the dark
heard only by those who dare
to listen beyond the noise.
It hums when dreams are gently set aside,
traded for the weight of another’s longing.
A whisper drifts through the stillness,
soft, cautionary, almost fragile:
Are you the master of your own path,
or a shadow in someone else’s light?
But when that whisper is ignored,
the sky breaks
and you are pulled into the heart of a storm.
Fierce. Unforgiving. Unknown.
Its beginning feels like ruin,
like something too vast to survive.
Yet slowly almost quietly
you begin to soften within it.
The thunder no longer startles.
The rain feels less like war,
and more like a rhythm you understand.
You learn its language.
You breathe in its chaos.
You bend, but you do not break.
And then, one day,
you rise from its depths
not as the one who was lost,
but as the storm itself.
Not raging in destruction,
but powerful…
in a way that feels like home.
