Yobe State has been adjudged the best-performing state in the implementation of the Community-Based Health Worker Scheme (CBHWS) in Nigeria, according to the latest national progress report.
The report places Yobe at the forefront, followed closely by Ogun State, highlighting the state’s exceptional commitment to community healthcare.
The state’s success in CBHWS is a direct reflection of Governor Mai Mala Buni’s unwavering dedication to improving healthcare access for all residents.
Under his leadership, more than 138 Primary Healthcare Centers have been established across the 178 wards of Yobe’s 17 Local Government Areas, ensuring essential health services reach even the most remote communities.
Officials credit Yobe’s top-tier performance to a combination of strategic planning, effective deployment of Community Health and Wellness Workers (CHEWs/ACBHWs), and active community engagement.
The achievement reinforces Governor Buni’s broader vision of a robust healthcare system and sets a benchmark for other states, demonstrating how visionary leadership can transform community health outcomes and bring quality healthcare closer to the people.
The pictures attached below are the report of Yobe's success story.
