This is literally an Israel’s war on Iran. Simply put, an aggressor is “ a person or country that attacks another first. This is a war declared against the Islamic Republic of Iran by the Zionist state of Israeli. As the aggressor, Israel started the war by launching a surprise attacks on key Iranian military and nuclear facilities on 13 June 2025.
Before the outbreak of the war between the 2 world’s most sworn enemies, preponderance of opinions and expert analysis by war specialists, diplomats, and popular discussions on social media platforms gave early victory to Israel.
Surprisingly, Islamic Republic of Iran, the country which the American and western media labeled as the underdog emerged victorious. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the silver-bearded and turbaned spiritual leader of Iran, clad in his usual long, colorful robe, was seen smiling in wide shared celebratory videos, his shoulders lifted high.
The 2025 Israel-Iran war which defied expert predictions, has shattered the illusion of American superiority and exposed the vulnerabilities of Israel’s much-touted intelligence and military capabilities. It has also exposed the exergerrated reality of the US and state of Israel.
Billions of US taxpayer dollars was spent in the war effort. Strong strategic alliances were formed, covert operations carrried out, and Israel deployed its most advanced weaponry to crush Iran within the shortest time possible. Yet against all odds, Iran stood tall, portraying itself as a resilient country deeply rooted in history, culture, pride, and unshakable sense of purpose.
Before this war, no one would believe that Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (ICRG) could successfully strike Israeli targets. The 12-day conflict was unlike the infamous Arab Israeli 6-Day war when Arab nations suffered a humiliating defeat by Israel. Iran’s ability to respond with precision to every Israeli attack casts serious doubts on the efficacy of the much-celebrated Iron Dome- a symbol of military pride and defense for Israel.
It is a major setback for Israel that the combined efforts of its intelligence and the might of the Iron Dome could not prevent some of the most sophisticated strikes against it: the IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv, the Israeli Military Intelligence School at Camp Moshe Dayan, a government tower in Haifa, a minor hit on the US embassy, the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot, the Bazan Oil Refinery Complex, a wastewater treatment facility in Herzliya, and a residential building in Bat Yam-killing over 100 civilians. Even the Mossad's secret intelligence facility and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange were targeted. By the time a ceasefire was declared, parts of Israeli cities were razed, evoking scenes similar to Gaza.
The level of destruction and humiliation suffered by Israel in the war is staggering. George Galloway, former Member of Parliament of the United Kingdom reported in his YouTube channel that 11,000 buildings in Israel were completely destroyed by Iranian Ballistic missiles, and over 30,000 were damaged. The Sky of Tel Aviv was effectively unguarded and undefended especially in the last few days of the war. Israel defenses had been so severely degraded that the government was forced to seek a ceasefire.
Iran entered the war amidst decades of sanctions on its banks, trade routes and military embargoes. The US blocked its access to global financial system, froze its billions of dollars and assets, and warned companies worldwide not to deal with Iran or face sanctions. The US President, Donald Trump targeted the country for regime change in order to “make Israel safe.”
Instead of the sanctions to breed rebellion against the Islamic Republic, the hardship created a sense of unity among the citizens. It ushered a renewed national pride. Iranians saw themselves as citizen soldiers who stood in defense of their father land against American and Israeli incursion. The government convinced Iranians that the attack on their country was not just on the leadership-it was an attack on the entire culture, history, and identity of Iran. The war, they were told, was not about politics, but a battle between truth and falsehood, justice and operation.
Trump and Bibi failed to understand that killing of high profile Iranian key military and intelligence officers would not bring victory. The Iranian system thrives on belief, martyrdom, resilience, and defense in the face of adversity.
It is deeply troubling that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has been accused of spying for Israel. Iran blamed the global nuclear watchdog for leaking sensitive information about its nuclear scientists, including names, photographs, and addresses-information that was later used by assassins to eliminate them.
From any angle, this war marks a historic turning point. Israel has, for the first time, suffered a defeat of global significance. While it may be premature to declare Iran the outright victor, the country undoubtedly emerged with the upper hand. Iran has changed the narrative-proving that it is no longer the "backwater" nation that the US and Israel portray. Equally, Israel is no longer the invincible superpower of the Middle East. Iran now has the capacity to thwart any future Israeli aggression.
At the end of the war, the biggest loser is undoubtedly Israel’s Prime Minister. Nemesis seems to have caught up with Benjamin Netanyahu-the chief instigator of recent Middle East conflicts and Donald Trump's close ally. Ironically, as the war ends, Netanyahu faces a corruption trial next week.
