Sometimes peace doesn’t come from silence…
it comes from the people who talk you back to life.
If there’s one thing I’m grateful for this season, it’s my roommates.
Because truth be told, I rarely feel stressed or overwhelmed. Not because life is easy, but because those girls always have gist.
Premium, unending, laughter-scattering gist.
The kind of gist that starts small but somehow turns into full-blown documentaries.
The type that forces you to drop your worries and pick up joy instead.
The kind that makes you forget you even had problems waiting for you somewhere.
There are days I come back to the room with my mind dragging behind me —
assignments pending, life planning stress, responsibilities piling up.
But the moment I step in and hear,

How was class?"
my brain just resets automatically, and I begin to pour in gists.
Before I know it, I’m laughing.
Laughing like someone who has no deadlines.
Laughing like life isn’t trying to collect rent from me.
Laughing until the weight on my chest loosens and the world feels soft again.
And every time it happens, I’m reminded that this is what love looks like in real life.
Not always deep speeches or grand gestures,
sometimes it’s just people whose presence refuses to let life crush you.
People who distract you from pain long enough for your heart to breathe.
People who become shelter without even knowing it.
It’s the same with family too,
one call, one joke, one random conversation and suddenly, life doesn’t feel so hard anymore.
And honestly? That’s why weekends are golden.
Weekends are when you get the chance to slow down,
sit with the people who refill you,
reminisce on the tiny joys that carried you through the week,
and let love wrap you like a soft blanket.
So as this weekend rolls in,
spend time with your people,
the ones who make you forget stress exists,
the ones who gift you laughter without asking for anything back,
the ones who remind you that life is still beautiful, despite everything.
Because at the end of the day,
family and friends don’t just give gist,
they give peace.
And weekends?
They are the perfect moment to enjoy that peace fully.
