*The cost of freedom*

A man of vision will pay any price for freedom,
That he now has to live with the reality of disability.
That some things he once did with ease are now arduous,
And his speed may now be that of a snail's.

Movement has become a Herculean task,
That he has to go the distance, weak and sick.
A stick becomes his stand,
His drive and source of inspiration.

It touches the earth and makes a difference,
Leaving behind every form of limitation,
No matter the level of convenience they offer.
That for a foot which balances the body,

But for freedom and justice,
There is no compromise.
Say goodbye to the chains.
Like the locomotive train,

Visions are greater than comfort.
Freedom is sweeter than balance.
The journey just began,
Away from pains and limitations.
Keep marching, with or without.
