I Should've Known Better

I Should've Known Better Than Oliver Goldsmith,
That As She Stoop To Conquer In The Rain And I Conquer To Stupor In The Sunshine.

I Should've Known Better Than Pointing My Index Finger To The Moon,
And Clinching My Five Fingers To A Fist, A War Of Peace Begins Soon.
And The Human Spirit Becomes A Battleground.

I Didn't Have To See My Reason In His Love, For It Is His Love Not Mine, He Is His, And Of Course Everything Him Comes From Him.

I Should've Known Better Than Not To Know Better,
That It Is Almost Like Two Candles: One Lit, Another Is Unlit, Yet With The Same Proximity, And The Unlit Candle Becomes Lit, And The Lit Candle Lose Nothing.

I Should've Known Better. I Should've Just Sit There. For To Do Nothing, To Do Something, Is The Same Thing.

The last two lines is faster than all the ones before, but it is everything the poem wanted to say— and it hits and hurts hard.

This poem really made me pause and think. The way you talk about "a war of peace" and the lit and unlit candles is so powerful—it’s such a simple image, but it says so much about love and how we give without losing. The line about doing nothing and doing something being the same hit me hard; it feels like such a deep truth about life and the struggles we all face. I don’t know, this just feels raw and real. Thank you for putting this into words—it’s beautiful.
