I Fear Man
I fear man
the shadow in daylight,
smiling with lips that drip honey
while the heart brews poison in silence.
He plays politics like chess on burning ground,
pawns of truth sacrificed for crowns of lies.
He reaps fields he never touched,
plants debts where trust once bloomed.
I fear his envy ,
a quiet serpent curling in the ribcage,
whispering murder into the ear of kin,
until blood becomes cheaper than pride.
I fear the patience of Heaven,
how long the wicked are granted breath
while good men, stars too early fallen,
are swallowed by the mouth of injustice.
I fear love is foreign to his soul ,
he trades it like coins at a crooked market,
where affection wears masks
and loyalty is sold by the hour.
Man, the architect of chaos,
the beast cloaked in brilliance,
kisses peace with Judas’ lips
and leaves war at the doorstep of dawn.
Yes
I fear man,
not the storm nor the lion,
but the one who walks upright,
with fire in his eyes
and ice in his heart.
