The Executive Governor of Yobe State, H.E. Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has been recognized nationally as Governor of the Year by Vanguard Newspapers in acknowledgement of his administration’s impactful development strides across the state.
The editorial team of the newspaper presented the official notification letter to the governor, citing his outstanding performance in infrastructural development and governance as the basis for the prestigious recognition.
Presenting the letter, Deputy Editor Adekunle Adekoya explained that the award followed a thorough and independent review of developments in Yobe State.
“Our editorial board has carefully observed the positive changes taking place across Yobe; this recognition is well-deserved and is intended to encourage even greater performance,” he stated.
The award reflects Gov. Buni’s consistent focus on delivering results through the expansion of road networks, urban renewal, and the revitalization of communities that had long been underserved—efforts that continue to redefine development across the state.
In his response, Gov. Buni expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a motivation to sustain and deepen the administration’s commitment to service.
“I dedicate this award to the good people of Yobe State, the true beneficiaries of our programs and projects,” he said.
The governor emphasized that the recognition belongs to the people, whose support and cooperation have made the administration’s achievements possible.
The award is scheduled to be formally presented on April 24, 2026, in Lagos, where Gov. Buni will be honored alongside other distinguished leaders.
