Development and humanitarian support reached new heights in Potiskum as the Executive Chairman, Hon. Salisu Muktari, led the distribution of essential food and non-food items provided by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to flood victims across 21 communities of the LGA.

The intervention, aimed at cushioning the hardship caused by recent flooding, covered hundreds of affected households, beneficiaries received rice, spaghetti, vegetable oil, mats, blankets, children’s clothing, women’s wrappers, and shadda brocade, among other essentials.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Salisu Muktari hailed the NEDC for its swift response to the council’s call for support, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.

He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to partnering with state and federal agencies to ensure that Potiskum residents receive continuous support during disasters and emergencies.

He urged beneficiaries to use the items wisely, emphasizing that the relief was designed to bring immediate comfort and hope to families recovering from the devastating effects of the flood.

Community members present expressed gratitude to both Hon. Salisu Muktari and the NEDC, noting that the effort had rekindled their confidence in leadership and development agencies working together for the people.

This relief effort underscores Hon. Muktari’s people-centered leadership and his dedication to securing meaningful interventions for Potiskum.
