He ought to Be Next

He Ought to Be Next
He climbed the stage with borrowed confidence,
Grammar limping behind him,
Accent wrestling with sense,
Words falling over themselves
Like a government without direction.
He did not arrive by merit.
He arrived by insistence.
By shouting “it is my turn”
Louder than competence,
Louder than wisdom,
Louder than the people.
And when the weight of leadership
Bent his weak sentences,
He cleared his throat and confessed
There is no way out.
No way out?
Says the man who forced his way in.
Says the voice that trembles
When truth demands fluency.
Says the leader who mistakes power
For destiny.
He offers excuses as policy,
Confusion as vision,
And hopelessness as honesty.
He cannot pronounce solutions,
So he declares them impossible.
He cannot lead,
So he lowers the nation
To the size of his limitations.
This is not leadership
It is entitlement in a suit.
A throne occupied by “ought,”
Not earned, not deserved,
Just taken.
And now we suffer
Because a weak voice believed
It was next in line for greatness.
History will not struggle with his accent,
But it will clearly spell his failure.
