The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, is set to commission the newly constructed Ngalda Modern Market in Ngalda Town, in a move widely seen as a boost to grassroots commerce and local economic activity.
The commissioning ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 17th February 2026, at 12:00 noon, and is expected to attract senior government officials, traditional leaders, traders, and key stakeholders from Fika Local Government Area and across the state.
The Ngalda Modern Market is a strategic intervention under Gov. Buni’s people-oriented development agenda, aimed at expanding economic opportunities, strengthening local trade, and providing critical infrastructure that supports small and medium-scale enterprises.
Equipped to offer an organized, secure, and conducive business environment, the market is expected to enhance commercial activities, improve traders’ earnings, and stimulate economic growth within Ngalda and surrounding communities.
The project aligns with the governor’s broader vision of driving development from the grassroots by prioritizing investments that directly impact livelihoods. By delivering modern market infrastructure at the community level, the Buni administration continues to empower local entrepreneurs and integrate rural economies into the state’s wider economic framework.
The commissioning of the Ngalda Modern Market further reinforces Gov. Buni’s record of translating policy commitments into tangible projects that promote inclusive growth and economic resilience; it also underscores his administration’s political resolve to strengthen commerce, create opportunities, and build confidence in local economies across Yobe State.
Residents, members of the business community, and other stakeholders are expected to turn out in large numbers as the Yobe State Government marks another milestone in its ongoing drive to improve infrastructure and boost economic prosperity statewide.
