Yobe State Governor H.E. Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, CON, has urged youths to embrace moral discipline, responsible living, and respect for societal values, while warning against drug abuse and other social vices capable of derailing their future.
The governor delivered the message at the Machina Cultural Festival (MACUF) held in Machina town, which attracted a massive turnout of traditional rulers, community leaders, cultural troupes, and visitors from within and outside Yobe State.
Gov. Buni described the festival’s large attendance as a clear testament to the peace and security currently prevailing in the state, noting that such gatherings reflect renewed confidence among residents following years of insurgency.
Recalling the Boko Haram crisis, the governor said the suffering experienced during the period had deepened public appreciation for peace, which he described as the most valuable asset of any society and the foundation for sustainable development.
He cautioned youths against drug abuse, warning that substance misuse destroys discipline, weakens moral standards, and threatens social stability. According to him, integrity, self-respect, and good character remain essential for personal success and national progress.
Gov. Buni reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and strengthening security across Yobe State, assuring citizens of a safe and stable environment for economic, social, and cultural activities.
The Machina Cultural Festival featured colorful cultural exhibitions, traditional dances, and rich expressions of indigenous heritage, further promoting unity, cultural pride, and peaceful coexistence among communities in the state.
