The Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. (Dr.) Mai Mala Buni, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of society, declaring that providing food and nutrition support is a shared human responsibility and an investment in the future.

The governor made this statement during the official flag-off ceremony for the distribution of Presidential Emergency Food and Nutrition Intervention items in Yobe State.

“Feeding the vulnerable is not charity—it is a duty of humanity and a seed of hope for the future,” Gov. Buni stated, emphasizing that no society can achieve sustainable development while neglecting the basic needs of its people.

He explained that the intervention is aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship, food insecurity, and malnutrition, particularly among low-income households, women, children, and other at-risk groups across the state. According to him, the program aligns with both the federal government’s social protection agenda and Yobe State’s people-centered governance approach.

Gov. Buni commended the Federal Government for prioritizing food security and nutrition, noting that timely interventions such as this help stabilize communities and strengthen social cohesion, and assured residents that the distribution process would be transparent, inclusive, and guided strictly by fairness to ensure that the items reach those who truly need them.

The governor also called on community leaders, religious institutions, and distribution committees to uphold integrity and accountability throughout the exercise, stressing that the success of the program depends on collective responsibility.

Beneficiaries at the event expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as a lifeline during a challenging period.

With this initiative, the Buni administration continues to reinforce its commitment to compassionate governance—placing human welfare, dignity, and long-term resilience at the heart of public policy in Yobe State.
