Who am I? A child of circumstance
One who was born out of crisis
Who am I? A child born out of wedlock
One whom is called illegitimate
Who am I? A child without parents
Whom is known as orphan
Who am I? A child without identity
One with no bearer of selfhood
Who am I? A child lost in dismay
One who wanders away to unknown
But who am I, really? A soul with a story untold,
A heart that beats with fear, yet yearns to be bold.
A mind that wanders, lost, yet seeks to be found.
A spirit that longs to rise, to claim its rightful choice.
But then..
I rise above the pain
I find my strength in the scars that remain
I find my voice amidst the darkness
I am a warrior, a survivor, a fighter
I am the sum of my struggles, made whole
I am me, not the labels, not the names I've been called,
I am the light that shines, clear and bright
I claim my name, I ignite my night,
I am the master of my fate, owner of my life.
