In a strategic move aimed at deepening internal democracy and widening participation, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has extended the deadline for the sale and submission of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for aspirants ahead of the 2027 General Elections, while also adjusting its screening timetable.
The announcement, conveyed in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, underscores the party’s resolve to ensure a smooth, inclusive, and transparent nomination process.
Under the revised schedule, the sale of nomination forms will now close at midnight on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, with submission extended to midnight on Thursday, May 7, 2026. The screening exercise has equally been rescheduled to run from Friday, May 8 to Tuesday, May 12, 2026, while the publication of the final list of cleared aspirants is set for Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Party insiders describe the adjustment as a proactive step designed to accommodate a broader spectrum of aspirants and eliminate procedural bottlenecks, ensuring that no qualified contender is left out of the process.
The APC leadership emphasized that the extension reflects its commitment to fairness, orderliness, and credibility as it prepares for a highly anticipated electoral cycle. Aspirants were urged to take full advantage of the additional time to complete all documentation and meet stipulated requirements.
The move is likely to energize the party’s internal processes, encourage wider engagement, and strengthen confidence among stakeholders ahead of the primaries.
With the revised timetable now in effect, attention is expected to shift to the screening phase, widely seen as a critical step in shaping the party’s lineup for the 2027 elections.
Further details, including the schedule for party primaries, are contained in the updated timetable released by the APC, signaling what many see as a well-coordinated and forward-looking approach to the upcoming polls.
