A broad and steady alignment is taking shape within Yobe State’s political space as key stakeholder groups, at different occasions and through separate engagements, have endorsed Baba Malam Wali as the preferred governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

The endorsements independently announced by the 17 local government chairmen, the Yobe Youth Forum, the Forum of Focal Persons and Project Coordinators, and the Potiskum Integrity Network Forum reflect a growing consensus cutting across grassroots leadership, youth constituencies, and policy actors within the state.

At a press briefing in Potiskum, the Potiskum Integrity Network Forum said its decision followed wide consultations and careful evaluation of aspirants, citing Wali’s competence, administrative experience, and track record in governance.

In a separate engagement in Damaturu, the Yobe Youth Forum declared its full and unified support, describing the endorsement as a reflection of the collective aspiration of young people for continuity, stability, and sustained development.

Also, the Forum of Focal Persons and Project Coordinators, in its own statement, aligned with the broader stakeholder direction, noting that Wali possesses the experience and leadership capacity required to consolidate on ongoing achievements in the state.

In another independent development, the 17 local government chairmen across Yobe State jointly backed Wali, highlighting his integrity, leadership strength, and ability to deliver inclusive governance. The chairmen further pledged to mobilise grassroots support in their respective local government areas.

Across the separate endorsements, stakeholders consistently emphasised Wali’s role in governance coordination, policy implementation, and his consultative leadership style as key reasons for their support.

They also commended H.E. the Executive Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni and Sen. Ibrahim Gaidam for their leadership and efforts in sustaining unity within the party.

This pattern of independent but consistent endorsements signals a deepening internal consensus within the APC in Yobe State, positioning Wali as a leading figure as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Stakeholders have continued to call for unity, peaceful political engagement, and a sustained focus on development, describing the endorsements as a reflection of shared commitment to the future of Yobe State.
