The poem “Prayer” explores the theme of truth and its complex relationship with law and morality, emphasizes the tension between personal integrity and societal expectations, and conveys the sense of moral complexities and contradictions inherent in the pursuit of justice and power.
Prayer
You will be an upholder of the law,
Go any depth, height, and length.
Have your head Faithful to your neck,
So long as you do not get too close to the truth.
Oxygen will be loyal to your heart, lungs, and brain,
The bed of peace will welcome you into its embrace,
So long as you do not cuddle the truth,
Till it thrives for air for those who care.
For it is a scene and a sin,
To be in sin and be seen.
Yet, a sin
To be serene, a saint, and spectacularly skilled with morals.
You will be an upholder of the law,
If you inspire the pendulum
To keep itself at its center,
You will be a winner of the course you chase.
You will be an upholder of the law,
In the Country’s State and in its core Courts,
So long as the scale’s tilts does till out those who put you there,
And the death of their dirt is not resurrected.
