Moved to the UK from India in early 2025, so here's my unfiltered take. The biggest surprise for me was how much the "system" expects you to already know things. I thought the UK would be super organized, with everything clearly explained. But no. Tax codes, council tax bands, NHS registration, even how bin collection works in your specific street you're expected to figure out from a cryptic PDF or a neighbor if you're lucky.
