The Chairmen of the 17 Local Government Areas of Yobe State have commended His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni for approving an additional round of Ramadan food assistance for vulnerable households, describing the intervention as a continuation of a well-established tradition of compassion and responsive governance.
The commendation follows the deployment and distribution of food items facilitated by the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Yobe State Chapter, as part of the state government’s expanded Ramadan welfare program.
The additional support, which spans all 17 local government areas, complements the daily Ramadan feeding centers earlier introduced by the Buni administration, further cushioning the impact of economic hardship and enabling vulnerable families to observe the holy month with dignity and peace.
Speaking on behalf of the councils, the ALGON Chairman, Alhaji Bukar Adamu, expressed sincere appreciation to the Governor for what he described as a consistent, people-focused intervention that has become a defining feature of Ramadan in Yobe State.
He also assured that strict accountability and monitoring mechanisms have been activated to ensure equitable and timely distribution of the food items at the grassroots.
During the handover ceremony, the Executive Secretary of SEMA described the exercise as an additional layer of the state’s Ramadan intervention strategy, noting that the administration remains attentive to emerging humanitarian needs, disclosed that further support initiatives are planned within the week, and said that other vulnerable groups and associations will also benefit.
He commended ALGON and the Local Government Councils for their cooperation and efficient coordination, which ensured smooth logistics across the state, and urged beneficiaries and residents to use the spiritual significance of Ramadan to intensify prayers for sustained peace, unity, and development in Yobe State, as well as for divine guidance for Gov. Buni.
The 17 local government chairmen unanimously described the intervention as a clear reflection of Gov. Buni’s people-centered leadership philosophy—one anchored on empathy, inclusiveness, and a firm commitment to standing with the vulnerable, especially during sacred periods that call for generosity, solidarity, and collective responsibility.
