Executive Director,
Yobe State Youth Concern for Good Leadership.
The Yobe State Government has taken the decision to close the Kukareta, Katarko, and Buni-Yadi markets to ensure security following the threat of renewed attacks by Boko Haram in the areas.
This decision, which some believe will oppress them and destroy their sources of income, is not a decision taken by the government to oppress its people but to ensure peace and improve the lives of it's people and provide them with full protection.
Although the decision was harsh but peace is more important; this is why it is necessary for the benefit of everyone, also everyone can ensure that the oppression of the poor is not part of the values of the Executive Governor of Yobe State Hon. Mai Mala Buni FCIA, CON, COMN.
The governor will not order the closure of markets to inconvenience his poor, as he has not imposed a lockdown due to the coronavirus pandemic while all Nigerian states are closing all places of public gathering, including places of worship, and prohibiting movement of their people to maintain the livelihood of his people.
As per the security situation, the closure of markets is a temporary measure taken by the government to implement some important security measures in the affected areas and Yobe State as a whole.
It is therefore advisable for the good people of Yobe State and the affected areas to give the Yobe State government full support to achieve its security objectives, as all the strict measures were taken to improve their lives.
We have to wish our security forces and our state all the best.
