WHO DO WE CRY TO?
Who do we cry to, when democracy's a sham?
A monarchy in disguise, with totalitarian hands that slam
The voices of the people, silenced and still
As sycophants reign supreme, with lies that chill
We're lost in a sea of hopelessness, with no shore in sight
Our opinions, mere whispers, in the dark of night
Arguments on politics, a waste of breath, it seems
As the powers that be, dictate our dreams
What's right is wrong, and what's wrong is right
In this twisted game of power, where might makes light
We're forced to conform, to the rules of the game
With no escape, no respite, just the same old refrain
Oh, Nigeria, our beloved land
How we yearn for freedom, for a voice that's grand
But alas, our cries fall on deaf ears
As the system remains, through all our tears
So we'll continue to suffer, in silence and pain
Our hopes and dreams, crushed by the weight of the chain
That binds us to this fate, this never-ending night
With no escape, no rescue, just the cold, hard light.
