In a bold effort to strengthen education and safeguard the future of children, the Executive Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Hon. Salisu Muktari, has recruited the additional security guards for schools, with their salaries fully funded by the council.
Hon. Salisu Muktari explained that education can only flourish in a safe and secure environment; he noted that the decision to engage more guards was a deliberate strategy to allow students and teachers to concentrate on learning without fear or distraction.
“We have recruited more security guards and placed them on salary to guarantee the safety of our schools; this initiative reflects our commitment to protecting both the learners and the facilities,” he affirmed.
The newly recruited guards have already been deployed across schools within the local government, where they are tasked with enhancing vigilance, preventing vandalism, and maintaining order.
The council also highlighted that the initiative will provide employment opportunities for young people, helping to reduce unemployment in the area.
Parents, teachers, and community stakeholders have widely applauded the chairman’s move, describing it as a visionary approach that blends educational development with community security; they stressed that safe schools are vital to building a brighter future for the younger generation.
With this initiative, schools in Potiskum are enjoying improved security and renewed confidence among both students and parents.
