The waters of Africa,
An ageless carrier of Africa's history,
Witnesses to Africa's past and present.

Each wave tell tales.
The first written about the African,
The beautiful black men and women,
For whom the waters of Africa quenched thirst, cooked food, washed clothes and bodies.
For whom the waters of Africa served as boundaries between communities where men loved and preserved nature.

Each wave a page in the big story,
The second written about the intruders,
Those ones who mounted her, sailed across her oceans claiming to be carriers of good news.
Her waves tells painful stories of how they stole from her people to make their continent better,
How they sailed her waters in their numbers with her children in the bowels of their ships,
How the tears of her children slipped through the woods of their ships into her body, each drop a pain she never forgets.

Her waves tell tales of how her children chose death instead of slavery,
The look on their faces when they decided to jump into her and end their lives.
How she cuddled them in her arms until each one them took their last breath.
Under the bright moonlight, the solemn sound of her waves, an elergy for the many she loss.

Her most recent pages,
Tales of how her children now sail on her back,
With goods with which they make their continent better.
Tales of how her children are sailing on her back on voyages of restoration, with determination to restore Africa's glory, to make Africa bigger and better.
In the cool of the evening, her waves a rhythmic applaud for their success and praise for their bravery.

The waters of Africa,
The custodians of Africa's history.
Keepers of her glorious past, painful experiences, her hope and aspirations and now her success.
