In the cradle of mankind's birth,
Lies Africa, the ancient earth,
A land of beauty, rich and vast,
With history deep and shadows cast.
From pyramids of desert sands,
To lush savannas, fertile lands,
A continent so full of grace,
Where every tribe has found its place.
Yet in her heart, a story told,
Of struggles fierce and dreams of gold,
Of chains that bound, of freedoms lost,
Of battles fought at great cost.
In days of old, the traders came,
With foreign tongues and ruthless aim,
They took her sons, her daughters too,
And shackled them in chains anew.
The ships set sail across the seas,
To lands unknown, with foreign trees,
A diaspora of pain and tears,
That echoes through the countless years.
But in the depths of Africa's soul,
There burned a fire, a glowing coal,
A spirit fierce, a will unbroken,
A vow to see the chains be broken.
In every village, town, and city,
Rose voices strong and hearts of pity,
From deserts dry to verdant plains,
A cry for freedom in their veins.
In Ghana's fields and Nigeria's shore,
In Kenya's heart, in Zulu's lore,
In Congo's depths, in Egypt's sand,
A call for unity, hand in hand.
From Cape to Cairo, voices rang,
With songs of hope, the people sang,
For liberation, to be free,
To reclaim their destiny.
Kwame Nkrumah led the way,
With words of fire, he’d boldly say,
"Africa must unite as one,
Our journey to freedom has begun."
Nelson Mandela, strong and wise,
With steely gaze and hopeful eyes,
He faced the dark, endured the pain,
And rose to break apartheid's chain.
Wangari Maathai, with hands of green,
She fought for land, for forest’s sheen,
Her trees stood tall, a symbol grand,
Of Africa’s rights to all her land.
Patrice Lumumba, a voice so clear,
He spoke of dreams, of futures near,
Though silenced young, his legacy,
Lives on in Africa’s destiny.
Through blood and tears, through fire and rain,
Through endless night, through searing pain,
The people marched, with heads held high,
Their anthem echoed to the sky.
In every stride, in every step,
In every promise that was kept,
In every heart, in every hand,
Was built the dream of a free land.
From classrooms filled with eager minds,
To fields where farmers toil and grind,
From markets bustling, full of life,
To artists’ brush, to drummer’s fife.
In every work, in every song,
In every right to right the wrong,
In every woman, man, and child,
A future bright, a spirit wild.
The women rose with strength anew,
With voices loud, their spirits true,
For gender’s chains to be unbound,
For equal rights, their voices sound.
From Ethiopia's highland pride,
To Senegal's Atlantic tide,
In every corner, far and wide,
A spirit strong, an endless tide.
The youth, with vision clear and bright,
They saw a future full of light,
With innovation in their hands,
They built anew the African lands.
Technology and modern dreams,
With science’s light and wisdom’s beams,
They forged ahead with minds so keen,
To craft a future yet unseen.
In unity, they found their might,
In brotherhood, their guiding light,
For in togetherness they saw,
A future free from hate and war.
From ECOWAS to SADC’s reach,
In every council, voices teach,
The power of a common cause,
To strengthen ties, to build new laws.
With unity, the markets grew,
With trade that thrived and friendships new,
From Lagos’ ports to Cairo’s streets,
A network vast where commerce meets.
In sports, they found a common ground,
In every cheer, in every sound,
From soccer fields to marathon,
A pride in every victory won.
The arts, the culture, music's beat,
In every heart, in every street,
From Kora’s strings to hip-hop’s rhyme,
A fusion rich with ancient time.
Through every trial, through every test,
The spirit soared, it did not rest,
For in the heart of Africa,
Lay dreams of old, a bright future.
In health and wealth, in schools and homes,
In fields of grain, where cattle roam,
In every stride, in every goal,
Was seen the power of Africa’s soul.
For liberation was the start,
Empowerment a work of heart,
And unity, the golden thread,
That bound their dreams and future’s spread.
From ancient times to futures bold,
Africa’s story, rich and told,
A journey of resilience, pride,
Of unity, a steadfast guide.
In every language, rich and rare,
In every custom, culture, care,
In every land, in every sea,
Was found the strength of unity.
For Africa, with scars of old,
With stories deep and dreams untold,
Had risen from the ashes dark,
A phoenix with a glowing spark.
Her people, vibrant, full of life,
Had overcome the endless strife,
And in their hearts, the stories kept,
Of how they picked what once was left.
For in the journey, they had found,
A strength that did not bow or bound,
A liberation of the mind,
An empowerment of every kind.
And unity, the heart’s true song,
A melody that made them strong,
For Africa, in all her grace,
Had found her rightful, honored place.
So let us sing of Africa,
Of lands so rich, of hearts so raw,
Of journey’s end, yet just begun,
Of liberation’s rising sun.
Empowerment in every hand,
Unity throughout the land,
For Africa, the proud, the free,
Her future bright for all to see.
In every heart, in every soul,
In every dream, the stories told,
Of how she rose, of how she grew,
Of how she thrived and saw it through.
From liberation’s fiery birth,
To empowerment’s valued worth,
To unity, the crowning part,
Africa’s journey, soul and heart.
And as the sun sets in the west,
We see a land, renewed, blessed,
A continent, in strength and pride,
With hope and dreams that never died.
For Africa, the ancient land,
Had found her place, had made her stand,
In liberation’s sweet embrace,
In unity, her rightful place.
So here we stand, in awe and praise,
Of Africa’s enduring days,
Her journey long, her spirit high,
A beacon bright against the sky.
For in her story, we all see,
A tale of human victory,
A journey towards a future bright,
Of liberation’s guiding light.
And as we look to what’s ahead,
With every promise, every thread,
We know that Africa will rise,
With empowerment in her eyes.
For unity, is the final key,
That will lead her to her destiny,
And in her journey, we shall see,
A future bright for you and me.
